Our Story

Where It All Began

I was born in Chișinău, Moldova, and immigrated to Canada when I was twelve, speaking no English. I went on to study theater and film at the University of Toronto, then moved to California for law school and built a career as an attorney.

Music was always part of my life. I grew up playing piano, and my love for creativity and the performing arts stayed with me even as my career took a different direction.

Along the way, I found myself drawn to mindfulness, nature, and the quiet joy of nurturing living things. I came to appreciate the beauty of slowing down, something that would later find its way into the music I create for children.

Motherhood Changed Everything

It was motherhood that brought all of those threads together.

With my two boys still little, I wanted to teach them important lessons in a way that felt like play rather than instruction. Music made that possible. A melody could carry a big idea gently, helping a child remember it long after the conversation was over.

Why Body Safety Matters

Then I began to understand just how vulnerable children can be.

The statistics on child sexual abuse stopped me cold. And I kept returning to a contradiction: we spend so much time teaching children to listen to adults, and far less time teaching them to recognize when an adult’s behavior isn’t right.

Even young children can begin learning that their bodies belong to them, that their “no” deserves respect, and that they can always tell a trusted adult when something feels wrong.

From Our Home to Yours

What began as simple early learning songs gradually grew into music about emotions, resilience, consent, and body safety. I believe children deserve these conversations in a way that's honest but not scary.

Each song starts with something I care about deeply as a mother.

Our music is original. It’s written, sung, and produced by people, not generated by AI. Working alongside talented artists, including our vocalist and co-producer, Cara Onofrio, we bring each idea to life with real voices and real care.

What began as songs for my boys now reaches families and classrooms around the world.

Seeing teachers, parents, and children sing “No Secrets from Mom and Dad” has been humbling. It has reminded me that these messages matter to so many families, and that the need for these conversations reaches far beyond my own children.

Gentle Giants Academy is built on a simple belief: children are whole people, worthy of respect, protection, and a voice of their own.

We make music to help them grow into gentle giants: kind enough to care for others and strong enough to stand up for themselves.
